Terms and Conditions of Entry
By entering the Youth Art Awards 2026 ("the Competition"), entrants agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Competition Overview
The Youth Art Awards 2026 is an international art competition presented in conjunction with the IDF-WPR Congress 2026, ADC 2026 and Metabolic Diseases 2026, to be held in Melbourne, Australia from 18–21 August 2026.
The Competition is proudly sponsored by Insulin For Life and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
2. Eligibility
2.1 Entry is open to young people who have a diagnosed form of diabetes, including but not limited to Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, MODY, gestational diabetes, or other recognised forms of diabetes.
2.2 Entrants must fall within the age categories specified in the Competition Guidelines at the time of entry.
2.3 Entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2.4 Organisers reserve the right to request confirmation of eligibility or diabetes diagnosis.
3. Artwork Requirements
3.1 All submitted artwork must be the original work of the entrant.
3.2 Artwork must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, copyright, trademark or other rights of any third party.
3.3 Entries generated wholly or substantially by artificial intelligence (AI) are not permitted.
3.4 Artwork may be created using any visual art medium, including painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, collage, sculpture, textile art, photography or digital illustration, unless otherwise specified in the Competition Guidelines.
3.5 Artwork must be suitable for public exhibition and must not contain offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or unlawful content.
3.6 The submitted artwork should reflect the entrant's personal experience, perspective or connection to living with diabetes.
4. Submission Process
4.1 Entrants must complete the official entry form and provide all required information.
4.2 A digital image of the artwork may be required for preliminary judging.
4.3 Finalists will be required to submit the original physical artwork for exhibition.
4.4 Original artworks selected for exhibition must be securely packaged and posted to the address provided by the organisers by the specified deadline.
4.5 The cost of packaging and postage to the organisers is the responsibility of the entrant unless otherwise advised.
5. Ownership of Artwork and Return Policy
5.1 All original artworks submitted to the Youth Art Awards 2026 become the property of the organisers upon receipt.
5.2 Submitted artworks will not be returned to entrants under any circumstances.
5.3 By submitting artwork, entrants acknowledge and agree that the physical artwork may be retained by the organisers for future exhibitions, educational programs, awareness campaigns, fundraising initiatives, archival purposes and other activities supporting the mission of the Competition and its sponsors.
5.4 Entrants should not submit artwork that they wish to retain or that cannot be permanently transferred to the organisers.
6. Exhibition
6.1 Selected finalist artworks will be exhibited during the IDF-WPR Congress 2026, ADC 2026 and Metabolic Diseases 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
6.2 Exhibition selection is at the sole discretion of the judging panel and organisers.
6.3 The organisers reserve the right to refuse exhibition of any artwork deemed unsuitable for public display.
7. Judging
7.1 Entries will be judged by a panel of professional artists and creative practitioners living with diabetes, together with representatives from the diabetes community.
7.2 Judging will consider:

Artistic merit and technique

Communication of personal experience or perspective

Overall impact of the artwork
7.3 The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.
8. Awards
8.1 Awards will be presented in the categories determined by the organisers.
8.2 A People's Choice Award may be determined through voting by Congress delegates and exhibition visitors.
8.3 Organisers reserve the right not to award a category if entries are deemed not to meet the required standard.
9. Copyright, Exhibition and Promotional Use
9.1 Copyright of all artworks remains with the artist.
9.2 By entering the Youth Art Awards 2026, entrants grant the organisers, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Insulin For Life, the IDF-WPR Congress 2026, ADC 2026 and Metabolic Diseases 2026 a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to photograph, reproduce, publish, display, distribute and promote the submitted artwork.
9.3 The primary use of submitted artworks will be for exhibition, education, awareness raising, advocacy, community engagement and promotional activities associated with the IDF-WPR Congress 2026, ADC 2026, Metabolic Diseases 2026, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Insulin For Life.
9.4 Submitted artworks may be reproduced in Congress publications, event programs, reports, presentations, websites, social media platforms, educational resources, marketing materials, media releases, fundraising campaigns, annual reports and other communications produced by the organisers, IDF and Insulin For Life.
9.5 Entrants acknowledge that submitted artworks may be displayed internationally in print, digital and exhibition formats to promote diabetes awareness, education and advocacy.
9.6 Where reasonably practicable, the artist's name, age category and country of residence will be acknowledged whenever artwork is reproduced or displayed.
9.7 No additional compensation, royalty or licensing fee will be payable for uses covered by these Terms and Conditions.
9.8 The organisers, IDF and Insulin For Life may retain submitted artworks indefinitely for future exhibitions, archives, educational initiatives, awareness campaigns and community programs related to diabetes.
9.9 Entrants warrant that they are the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted artwork and that the work does not infringe the rights of any third party.
10. Shipping, Risk and Liability
10.1 Entrants are responsible for ensuring artwork is packaged appropriately for transport.
10.2 While reasonable care will be taken, the organisers, IDF and Insulin For Life accept no liability for loss, theft, damage or deterioration of artwork during shipping, handling, storage or exhibition.
10.3 Entrants are responsible for arranging insurance for their artwork prior to submission if desired.
11. Privacy
11.1 Personal information collected during the entry process will be used for the administration of the Competition and related promotional activities.
11.2 Personal information may be shared with the organisers, judging panel, International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Insulin For Life for purposes directly related to the administration and promotion of the Competition.
11.3 Information will be managed in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
12. General Conditions
12.1 Submission of an entry constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
12.2 The organisers reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions where necessary.
12.3 The organisers reserve the right to verify eligibility and disqualify any entrant or artwork that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
12.4 The organisers reserve the right to cancel, modify or suspend the Competition if circumstances arise beyond their reasonable control.
12.5 Any matters not covered by these Terms and Conditions shall be determined by the organisers, whose decision shall be final.
